0115. Visiting Russia
Our exportmanager talks about MET
Pris:
Our exportmanager was invited to Russia to talk about our products in relation to MET training and rehabilitation. The symposium took place from 29th to 31 st of October 2003. A small sample of the agenda follows:
Medical Exercise Therapy:
A rational way in rehabilitation of problems of acute
and chronic tendon injuries and overuse syndromes
Originally Medical Exercise Therapy started in the 1970’s among athletic trainers who had physiotherapy as their profession. Inspired by the effect that physical training had on athletes, they started to provide graded training to patients. The beneficial effects of Medical Exercise Therapy on bone non-union and on myofacial structures in orthopaedic problems are still under worldwide investigation. Scientific research, a number of double blind, placebo controlled multi-centre studies are done, showing positive clinical effect beside stating Medical Exercise Therapy as a low cost method.
As an injury prevention the method has been applied to athletes for years. The method is of growing importance in the daily treatment of patient’s worldwide.
Medical Exercise Therapy is a rational, pain-free, not risky, and not expensive method using low-tech equipment that is easy to apply. But it cannot replace an exact diagnosis and it is clearly a supervised activity.
The criteria for Medical Exercise Therapy:
<< - Branch of exercise therapy where the patient performs exercise in specially designed apparatus, without manual assistance but constantly monitored by the physiotherapist.
The apparatus mist be designed to optimally stimulate the relevant functional quality, neuromuscular, artrogenoc, circulatory and respiratory. To obtain this effect, the patient carries out the exercise from a defined starting position, in a spesific range of moment, or a part of this range, against a graded load.
- Medical exercise therapy is based on a minimum of one hour’s effective treatment. Prior to the treatment an assessment is carried out based on:
From the patient’s history and the assessment a diagnosis is determined and an optimal treatment regime (exercise program) is established.
The therapy also includes reassessment and adjustment of the exercise program when required. A maximum of five patients may be treated for one hour.
